Trinity is a city in Randolph County in the North Carolina state of the United States, near High Point, North Carolina area. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 6,614.
Trinitiy was named after Trinity College, which eventually became Duke University, which is located nearby. Brown’s Schoolhouse, a private subscription school founded in 1838, served as the foundation for Trinity College. Originally founded by a group of Methodists and Quakers, the institution was officially established by Hezekiah Leigh; this is the same Leigh who is commonly regarded as the founder of Randolph-Macon College, which is now known as Randolph-Macon College. Union Institute Academy received its charter from the state of North Carolina in 1841. In 1859, the institution adopted the name Trinity College, and in 1892, the college relocated to Durham, North Carolina.
The Dr. Thomas L. Winslow House, which was erected in 1855 and is now the home of the Trinity Museum, is another historical monument in the area. Zimmerman Vineyards, nestled on 140 acres at the foot of Mt. Shepherd, is a terrific destination for wine enthusiasts. They offer excellent weekend tours and wine tastings. Donna Hughes, a local country and bluegrass singer-songwriter who has lived in Trinity her entire life, considers Zimmerman to be one of her favorite spots.
The Linbrook Heritage Estate, which includes Linbrook Hall, one of the largest privately-owned residences in the southeastern United States, is the most popular tourist destination in the city of Trinity. The Historic Hoover House and the Neal Agricultural and Industrial Museum are both located on the grounds of the estate.
There are 22 fully restored John Deere® tractors on display, as well as a significant collection of John Deere memorabilia, a century steam engine, antique electrical apparatus, and an unique Otto-Langen engine, among other exhibits. All of the tractors and equipment on show at the museum have been meticulously restored, both mechanically and aesthetically, and they are regularly put through their paces during demonstrations on the estate. The Uwharries mountain range, which is America’s oldest mountain range, may be seen from the grounds of the property.
The Sealy Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of bedding items, has its headquarters in Trinity. The company had revenues of $1.2 billion in 2003.
Gil English, a former baseball player, passed away in Trinity, North Carolina. Trinity is also the home of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Bobby Labonte, Brian Vickers, and Kyle Petty, who all hail from the city. The Kyle Petty Farm near Trinity, Texas, was the site of the old “World’s Longest Hot Wheels Track,” which opened to the public on May 9, 1999.
