Summerfield is a town in Guilford County in the state of North Carolina, United States, and located near High Point, NC. At the time of the 2000 census, the population was 7,018 people. The population has increased to 10,232 people at the time of the 2010 census.

Seasonal Piedmont region of North Carolina, Summerfield is comprised of rolling, open, and forested countryside, residential areas, and minor commercial development. Summerfield is located in northwest Guilford County within the seasonal Piedmont region of North Carolina. The Piedmont Triad International Airport is conveniently accessible from the town, and I-73 and US-220 are key transportation arteries.

Summerfield Elementary School is located in the town and serves as the principal educational institution for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. SCA is a charter school administered by National Heritage Academies that serves children in kindergarten through eighth grade. It is not as open and flexible as most charter schools, but it is a good option for families in the Summerfield area who want to send their children to a good school.

Summerfield Stampede refers to the group of students who attend SCA. The majority of residents of Summerfield attend Northern Guilford Middle School and Northern Guilford High School, with a small number attending Northern Elementary School. All three schools are located east of Route 150, close to Brown Summit, and have the Nighthawk as their mascot, which is a hawk.

Some inhabitants attend Northwest Guilford Middle School, which is followed by Northwest Guilford High School, both of which are located in the nearby Greensboro suburb of North Greenville. The Viking is the mascot of the Northwest schools as well as Summerfield Elementary School.

The Summerfield School Gymnasium and Community Center is home to a gymnasium that was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 and is a National Historic Landmark. In 2005, the Summerfield Historic District was designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Summerfield’s town square used to be home to former North Carolina Governor Alexander Martin, who lived in a house on the square that is no longer extant. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington and his family stayed in the residence. A historical home known as the Martin House is located on the square, but it used to be occupied by the Governor’s son, who resided there until his death. The Martin House is currently in the possession of the town of Summerfield.
